Type: photo exhibition
Date: August 18 to December 29, 2019
Time: Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm to 5 pm
Venue: Jewish Prayer Room Museum Horb

The new exhibition in the Jewish Prayer Room Museum in Horb depicts traces of Jewish life in eastern Europe, specifically in the historical and geographic regions Bukovina, Galicia, Bessarabia, Volhynia, and Podolia in today's Belarus, Moldova, Romania, Poland, and Ukraine.

Synagogues which fall into ruin or have been converted to other purposes, overgrown cemeteries, faded inscriptions on houses: these are the subjects of Cologne-based photographer Christian Herrmann. His impressive photos will be shown in the Jewish Prayer Room Museum in Horb from August 18 to December 29, 2019.

These are the last traces of an annihilated multi-ethnic and multilingual environment east of Germany which had world’s largest Jewish population prior to the Shoah.

On the occasion of the exhibition’s opening on August 18, 2019 at 4 pm, Christian Herrmann will be present and talk with Michael Zerhusen about his search for traces and his photo work.
